Financial Management in Mauritian SMES
Abstract
Using online and postal complemented by self-administered questionnaires, primary data were gathered from 96
SMEs in Mauritius to assess the financial management of SMEs in Mauritius. The study reveals that 44.8% of entrepreneurs
had poor financial management knowledge, the result of which they faced difficulties managing their business and their
activities were very disturbed. A relationship was also established between financial management and financial data such as
turnover, age of SME owners and its costs. This study is original in the sense that it focusses wholly on the financial
management of entrepreneurs in Mauritius and acts as policy decision for policy makers and SMEs.
